ON WEEKENDS

INSTRUCTION:
Lee el párrafo y trata de identificar el significado de las palabras en negrita, utilizando el contexto.

During the week, I don't normally go out much. I'm usually too busy doing my homework. But on weekends, I always go out with my friends. On Saturday mornings, we often go to the mall because we like trying on clothes and shoes. We never buy many clothes because we don't usually have much money. Mostly, we hang out and watch other people or drink a coffee. In the evening, I sometimes go dancing or go to a movie with my boyfriend. ( I never stay out after midnight - my Dad won't let me ! ) On Sunday I often eat out with my family - sometimes we drive out of the city to eat tacos or quesadillas. In the evenings my brother and I usually rent a DVD. We like to chill out in front of the television. We rarely do homework on weekends !

William Shakespeare

The most famous English writer is William Shakespeare, and "Romeo and Juliet" is his most famous play. It's set in Verona, but Shakespeare never went to Italy. In fact, he probably never left England.

Shakespeare was from Startford-upon-Avon, in England. You can still visit the house where he was born. He lived in Stratford-upon-Avod with his wife, Anne Hathaway, and his children, Susanna, Judith, and Hamnet.

Shakespeare was an actor as well as a writer. He appeared in his own plays at The Globe and other London Theaters. He also performed at the Royal Palaces, in front of Queen Elizabeth I. He wrote nearly forty plays, as well as sonnets and other poems.

Going to the theater was very popular in Shakespeare's Time. It wasn't just for the rich. You could go to a play al The Globe for just one penny. You didn't have a seat, but you stood very close to the stage, so you had a very good view of the action.

The audience expected to hear music, too, as party of the play. At The Globe, the musicians played in a gallery above the stage. Women didn't appear on stage in Shakespeare's time. So boys played the women's parts.

Theaters were lively places. The audience didn't keep quiet during the performance.
Unfortunately, The old Globe Theater burned down a long time ago. But there is a new Globe Theater on the south bank of the River Thames. It looks exactly like the old one. You can go and see Shakespeare's plays there now.

Exercise can be fun !

Exercise has become a huge part of our world. There are gyms everywhere, but if you're not keen on them, there are hundreds of exercise videos to choose from. Exercise is good for you. It makes you feel better, look better and can help you live longer. But what happens if you are the kind of person who would do anything rather than spend five minutes on a exercise bike, including cleaning the house, visiting a boring relative or watching a terrible TV programme? If you are that kind of person, you need a plan !  First of all decide when you are going to exercise. Choose three times a week, like me.

Write EXERCISE in your diary, on your calendar, on the wall if necesary !  Then make sure you do it.  Don't do anything else. I never make other arrangements. Next, vary what you do. I went to the same aerobics class for two years !  No wonder I was bored !  Now I use different machines at the gym, I often change my jogging route and I never do aerobics. Make exercise fun and find an exercise you enjoy. Why not play a sport, or join a dance class?  I recently started a modern dance class. It's great fun and I've met lots of new people, but as soon as I get bored,  I'll find something else !

Cinderella

Once upon a time there was a girl called Cinderella who lived with her two brothers. They were very beautifull. Cinderella worked in the house, and her sisters helped her. One day an invitation arrived to the disco at the king's Place. Cinderella's sisters went to the party and they said: you can come to the party, Cinderella. Suddenly, Cinderella's fairy godfather appeared, you can come to the party Cinderella, she said, and gave her a leather jacket and a motorbike.

At the party, Cinderella danced with the king, but at eleven thirty she had to leave and run home. When she ran, she left her handbag. The Prince looked for Cinderella and, finally, he found her, and they went to the USA together.
